Common questions

The game won’t install or update

  1. Open Google Play and check for pending updates.
  2. Make sure you have at least 50 MB of free storage on your device.
  3. Restart your phone and try again — this clears most install errors.
  4. If Play Store reports a specific error code, search that code in the Play Help Centre — it’s almost always a Play-side issue rather than a Shoji-side issue.

The game feels sluggish or stutters

Shoji is designed to run on modest hardware, but a heavy background process can still cause stutter. Try:

  1. Close other apps and reopen Shoji.
  2. Check that battery saver mode isn’t aggressively throttling the game (Settings → Battery).
  3. Restart your phone.

If it still stutters, please email us with your phone make, model, and Android version — we’ll investigate.

I lost my high score

High scores are stored locally on your device only. They are removed if you uninstall the game, clear app data, or move to a new phone. There is no cloud backup, so the high score does not transfer between devices.

How do I turn off haptics?

Open the in-game settings (gear icon on the main menu) and toggle “Haptics” off. The game will become completely silent and still.
