Shoji is a block puzzle you play in the browser. You do not need an account to play, and the game works entirely offline if you never touch the leaderboard.

What stays on your device

Your scores, best runs and unlocked themes.
Your settings.
A random ID generated in your browser, so the game can recognise your own results. It is not linked to your name, email or any account.

Clearing your browser storage erases all of it.

What leaves your device

Only if you choose to join the leaderboard. Joining asks for a display name, and from then on the game sends:

the display name you picked,
your random player ID,
your score, the game mode, and the date of the run.

That is the whole payload. There is no email address, no account, no contacts, no location, and nothing about your device. If you never join, the game never sends a score anywhere.

Pick a display name you are happy for strangers to see - the leaderboard is public. Ask us and we will remove yours.

Analytics

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits, and only if you accept it when asked. IP addresses are masked, there are no advertising cookies, and nothing is shared with advertisers. Decline and no analytics cookie is set.

Hosting

The site is served from UK hosting. Leaderboard scores are stored on a server run by Cyber-Jack, not by a third party.

Children

Shoji is suitable for all ages. Because joining the leaderboard publishes a display name, we ask that children check with a parent first.

Changes

If this ever changes materially, the date at the top changes with it.
