Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what data Shoji (“the game”, “we”, “us”) collects, how long we keep it, and how to delete it. Shoji is operated by Chris Jackson, United Kingdom. Contact: privacy@cyber-jack.uk.
1. Data the game stores on your device
The game stores your high score, settings, and game state locally on your device using standard app storage. This data is not transmitted to us. Uninstalling the app, or clearing app data in Android settings, removes it.
Shoji does not request access to your contacts, microphone, camera, location, photos, or files.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Shoji shows ads served by Google AdMob. To deliver and measure these ads, AdMob collects a limited set of technical information from your device, which can include your Android Advertising ID (AAID), device type and operating system version, IP address (used to derive approximate country), and basic interaction signals such as which ads were shown or tapped. This information is processed by Google under the Google Privacy Policy and is not shared with us beyond aggregate revenue and performance reports.
You can reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads at any time: Android Settings → Google → Ads → “Delete advertising ID” or “Opt out of Ads Personalisation”. Doing so does not stop ads being shown, but they will no longer be tailored to you.
If you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, the first time you launch Shoji you will see a Google-provided consent message asking whether AdMob may use your data for personalised advertising. You can change this choice at any time from the in-game settings.
3. Data this website collects
The website you are reading uses Google Analytics 4 for anonymous traffic measurement (page views, approximate country, device type). Google Analytics retains this data for 14 months and then deletes it automatically. You can block it using a content blocker or the “Do Not Track” setting in your browser.
4. Support emails
If you email us for support, we receive your email address and the contents of your message. We use this only to reply. Support emails are kept for up to 24 months to help with follow-up questions, then deleted.
5. Third-party stores
Shoji is distributed through Google Play. Google may collect install events, device information, and aggregate statistics under its own privacy policy. We can see only the anonymised totals Google shows us in the developer console (number of installs, ratings, etc.) — we cannot identify any individual player.
6. How long we retain your data
- In-game data (high score, settings): stored locally on your device. Deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data in Android settings. We do not receive a copy.
- Advertising data: retained by Google AdMob under its own retention policy. Linked to your device’s advertising ID, which you can reset at any time.
- Website analytics: retained by Google for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Support emails: retained for up to 24 months, then deleted.
7. How to delete your data
- In-game data: uninstall Shoji or use Android Settings → Apps → Shoji → Storage → Clear data.
- Advertising data: reset your advertising ID and/or opt out of personalised ads in your device settings (see section 2 above).
- Website analytics: we cannot identify you in analytics data, so there is nothing account-level to delete. Block GA4 with a content blocker if you prefer not to be counted at all.
- Support emails: email privacy@cyber-jack.uk with the subject “Delete my data”. We will permanently delete everything linked to your email and confirm within 7 days.
8. We do not sell your data
We do not sell or rent personal data. We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling. Google AdMob processes ad-related data under the Google Privacy Policy linked above.
9. Children
Shoji is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, email privacy@cyber-jack.uk and we will delete it immediately.
10. Your rights under UK GDPR
If you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, you have the right to access, correct, erase, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). Send any such request to privacy@cyber-jack.uk and we will respond within one calendar month.
11. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
